FAQ

Planning your Costa Rica trip

When can you see humpback whales in Costa Rica?

On the south Pacific coast there are two seasons: whales from the Northern Hemisphere from December to March, then Southern Hemisphere whales from July to November. December to March is also the dry season — ideal for combining whales, Caño Island and offshore fishing.

How do you get to Caño Island?

By boat only: the island is a protected biological reserve. Our trips leave from the Sierpe River, Uvita or Dominical. The boat ride, snorkeling gear and beach buffet are included in the $145 per person price.

Can I book in French?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at +33 7 44 97 33 11 (French number): we reply in French or English, usually within the hour, and confirm availability directly with the boat.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. If the company cancels a trip because of weather or sea conditions, you'll be offered a new date or a full refund for that tour. And we tell you before you pay if a date looks bad.

When is the best time to visit the Osa Peninsula?

The dry season, December to April, usually brings the calmest sea for snorkeling. The green season, May to November, is still beautiful, with fewer people and Southern Hemisphere whales passing from July to November.

Why book direct instead of a booking site?

Same boats and same local captains, without the big platforms' markup. You deal with a real person before and during your trip.

Why book direct

Same boats, same captains — no booking-site markup

We know the crews

Every trip runs with a company we've personally vetted — not the lowest bidder on a booking platform.

Honest weather calls

We tell you if a date looks bad for sea conditions before you pay, not after.
